Roughly fifty automobiles have been marked with what appears to be human blood in the German town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by police.
Vehicles, building surfaces and postboxes were vandalized, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they announced in a official communication.
Officers state they were alerted late on Wednesday evening, when a individual discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish liquid.
The liquid had been drawn in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they reported.
Police then discovered numerous other marked vehicles and residential walls in the nearby vicinity.
Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under laws outlawing the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.
Officials state preliminary tests show the fluid was likely blood from a person.
"There is still no clue as to where it came from; investigators are not yet informed of any injuries in association with the incident," they commented.
City officials said they were trying "to unravel the incident" and have requested to the community for information.
A senior representative said the vandalism rendered him speechless and needed to be solved rapidly.
"This event strikes at the core of Hanau and revives the pain of the extremist violent incident in 2020," he stated on social media, mentioning the killing of nine people by a assailant aiming at individuals of migrant background in February 2020.
