Lando Norris Leads Oscar Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice
The British driver has beaten his teammate at all of the previous five race weekends.
Lando Norris edged out team-mate and championship contender the Australian for the quickest lap in the dying seconds of the practice session at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
The British racer, who seized the points lead from his teammate by just one point after his victory in the Mexican Grand Prix a fortnight back, outpaced the Melbourne-born driver by 0.023 seconds.
Earlier in the session, Piastri had been the fastest McLaren driver throughout the hour before the sprint shootout set to begin at 6:30 PM GMT.
The Red Bull star, the other racer in realistic title contention, trailing 36 points behind Norris, finished in 17th place as his Red Bull team opted for a unique setup.
His teammate Yuki Tsunoda was the sole competitor to have an incident, though minor, when he spun at corner four early in the session.
Tsunoda spun out over the track edges before spinning across the gravel trap, and was lucky to avoid just a slight brush of the wall.
The Ferrari of the seven-time champion also lost it, at the final moments of the practice, turning around through the high-speed Mergulho turn before the last turn on to the main straight.
The veteran finished practice in 19th, trailing teammate the Monegasque driver.
Norris and Piastri were far ahead of the other competitors, with the German's car third fastest, over half a second slower than the Australian's time.
Aston Martin's Fernando Alonso was fourth quickest, with the Sauber of Bortoleto ahead of the Mercedes of Russell and the Alpine of Gasly and Williams' Carlos Sainz.
